How to Take Homeopathic Medications

Homeopathic Remedy Instructions (DRY DOSE)

Take the remedy as directed by your homeopath. Do not take more or less than has been directed. Do not take the remedy again unless given instructions to do so.

* The remedy bottle lid should be twisted or pumped to eject the pills into the lid, (depending on the pharmacy brand or bottle type).

* Please don't touch the pills; medication is sprayed onto the outside of the pills. Touching the pills with your hands may contaminate them.

* Using the lid, drop the pills under your tongue. Let the pills dissolve in the mouth; this should take about 3-5 minutes.

* Avoid eating, drinking or taking medication 30 minutes before and after taking your remedy.

Homeopathic Remedy Instructions (LIQUID DOSE)

Take the remedy as directed by your homeopath. Do not take more or less than has been directed. Do not take the remedy for a period longer than directed.

* Bang the bottom of the bottle firmly on the palm of your hand 10 times (or as directed) every time you take the remedy. This helps ensure the remedy is mixed properly before taking it and ensures that your body will not become desensitized to a repeated similar dose.

* On a clean spoon, measure out the appropriate amount of the remedy as indicated by your homeopath (ex. 1 teaspoon, 1/2 teaspoon, 5 drops etc.). Place the liquid in your mouth and let the liquid sit under your tongue for 10 seconds before swallowing.

* Avoid touching the tip of the dropper. Make sure not to contaminate the bottle.

* If possible, store your medicine in the refrigerator, away from strong odors such as onions or garlic. As well, keep the bottle away from direct sunlight.

* Avoid eating, drinking or taking medication 30 minutes before and after taking your remedy.

WHAT SHOULD I AVOID WHEN TAKING A REMEDY?

Certain substances may antidote or alter the effect of the medicines. The following is a list to avoid at least 30 minutes before and after taking the remedy.

* Coffee * Mint (toothpaste, chewing gum) * Camphor (Chapstick, Noxema, Tiger balm) *Strong odours - such as perfume, and flavours such as garlic, raw onions, ginger, excessively spicy foods etc.
